March Newsletter
A fantastic month with 18 winners including 2 Grade 1 winner at the Cheltenham festival.

Both AL FEROF and CHELTENIAN were purchased as a youngsters at the Arqana sales and are now on the top of their game. They are still young and should make a big impact next season over fences for AL FEROF and hurdles for CHELTENIAN.
PATEESE also ran a great race in the Paddy Power (L.r) finishing 3rd while the same day in France and on the flat FLASH DANCE finished 3rd in a Listed race at Saint Cloud for new owner WERTHEIMER stables.

GAMEDE was also very pleasing winning easely at Navan in a 25 runners Novice hurdle and should now go straight to the Grade 1 for 4yold at Punchestown.

TORRID HELL won in Guadeloupe

TORRID HELL
record his 3rd victory in a row in the French Carribean. Since we sold him he the son of VETTORI has  been running 5 times and signed his 3rd victory at Carrere Racetrack  last sunday in a very good style and is now one of the best horse on the Island.

FLYING TOMATO won at Marseille in the Prix des Haras (Flat)
Monday, March 21th
FLYING TOMATO open is account with a sweet victory at Marseille in a fairly good field. The son of BIG SHUFFLE took the lead after a furlong and was never in danger winning easely by 1 lenghts.
We purchased him as a yearling at the Osarus sales at La Teste (Bordeaux)

CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL

The final day of CHELTENHAM was unfortunately not has good as the first three and all our runners were disappointing  except DE BOITRON who ran a blinder in the Grand Annual Chase Grade 3. He finished 4th staying on bravely and looking booked for 6th place jumping the last his stamina allowed him to get 4th place on the line. Beeing by SASSANIAN out of a staying family, no doubt that he will be much better once step up in trip.

LA BOMBONERA never travelled and there is definitely something wrong with her. HOUBLON DES OBEAUX as expected found the ground much to firm for his aptitude but there is still plenty more to come from him also when he will be sent chasing. CICERON looked outpaced and was still in contention when stumbling at the last. He also might be better over a longer trip now that he settle much better in a race.

The final  results of all our runners for  our succesful Cheltenham are as follow:

1st AL FEROF , Supreme Novice Grade 1
1st CHELTENIAN, Champion Bumper Grade 1
2nd KALAHARI KING, Ryanair Chase Grade 1
3rd DEAL DONE, Kim Muir Listed race
4th THOUSAND STARS, Champion Hurdle Grade 1
4th DE BOITRON, Grand Annual Chase Grade 3
6th POKER DE SIVOLA, Cross Country, Classe 2
7th TENOR NIVERNAIS, Fred Winter Grade3
7th QUARTZ DE THAIX, Byrne Groupe Plate Grade3

Unplaced LA BOMBONERA
Unplaced HOUBLON DES OBEAUX
Unplaced GALANT NUIT
Pulled up PLEIN POUVOIR
Fell CICERON

ALLREADY LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!

Day 3 : Thursday, March 18th
An exciting day with KALAHARI KING

No winner today but still an exciting day with KALAHARI KING finishing 2nd in the Ryanair Chase Grade1. The step up in trip did the trick for the fantastic son of KAHYASI , who, even at the age of 10,  could be a serious contender for the next top  staying races to come. DEAL DONE led for a long way in the KIM MUIR (Listed) and stay bravely to keep 3rd. In the same race GALANT NUIT was very disapointing and was never a factor.
QUARTZ DE THAIX like his stablemate TENOR NIVERNAIS yesterday, was outpaced for most of the race and was staying on strongly to finish a good 7th. They will be plenty more races for these 2 horses to be won. PLEIN POUVOIR was pulled up and is definitely not of this calibra.
Last day tomorrow and my big hope of the festival will take part in the Triumph Hurdle. As the forecast is for rain tomorrow morning HOUBLON DES OBEAUX  chances shoud get even bigger with every drop... CICERON on the opposite will not like the going changing to soft and may struggle.
LA BOMBONERA was very disapointing for her first race in GB and it's difficult to say how she will be running tomorrow while DE BOITRON should play a major part in the GRAND ANNUAL CHASE.
Also my heart will be with KAUTO STAR. I did not purchase him but he is one of these horses that makes racing history and I would really enjoy to see him win another GOLD CUP. Good luck to all his team.

Day 2: Wenesday, March 17th
Another fantastic day for us at Cheltenham
With only 2 runners today we won the Champion bumper Group1 with CHELTENIAN that we purchased as a yearling at Arqana for 27 000€. Resold at Brightwells for 210 000£ he is now a grade 1 winner and should be a serious contender for the Supreme Novice next year.

TENOR NIVERNAIS
also caught the eyes when finishing a very good 7th staying on bravely. He was completely outpace for the first 2 third of the race and start making ground in the last 4 furlongs. TENOR will be at his best on 2 1/2 miles and could be aslo a serious Chaser.
We have so far been buying the only 2 French Grade1 winner of the festival and we still have some interesting runners tomorrow and friday.

Tomorrow KALAHARI KING,  QUARTZ DE THAIX and GALANT NUIT should all have very good chances . DEAL DONE and PLEIN POUVOIR will find things more difficult. Anyway today CHELTENIAN was the only foreign horse to win at Cheltenham as the Irish horses won the first 6 races and would have made an incredible 7/7 if CHELTENIAN was not there...

Day 1: Tuesday, March 16th
A good start for us at the Cheltenham festival 2011

with AL FEROF taking the opener THE SUPREME NOVICE HURDLE, Grade1, in great style with a very fine ride by Ruby WALSH. He came off the pace to hit the front in the last 50 yards winning confortably at the end by 2 lengths. We purchased AL FEROF as a foal in Deauville at the December sales for 13 000€.
He is now 10/1 for the Champion Hurdle 2012.

THOUSAND STARS
our next runner finished a very good 4th in the Champion Hurdle. He could be a Grade1 winner when step up in trip. He stayed on strongly toward the end to grab 4th place from  favourite MENORAH . We purchased THOUSAND STARS in a claimer on the flat at Saint Cloud where he finished 4th and we had to bid 29 157€ to get him. He has since won 5 times including the County hurdle last year at cheltenham and finished twice 3rd to Grade 1 races in Irlande.

Our final runner of the day POKER DE SIVOLA finished an impressive 6th in the Cross country looking beaten before beginning to pass horses on the final lap. That was his first race over these obstacles and in the future with more experience he will be a top performer in these kind of races. He definitely has a bright future in that sphere.

That was our only runners of the 1st day and tomorrow we will also have two good chances with TENOR NIVERNAIS in the Fred Winter and CHELTENIAN in the Champion Bumper. They should both be playing a major part in their respective races.

FLASH DANCE and PATEESE , both placed 3rd in Listed Race
Saturday, March 12th
Today is a really good day for our purchaces :

3rd FLASH DANCE (Head) at Saint Cloud - Prix Altipan (Flat) Listed
3rd PATEESE (P Hobbs) at Sandown (GB) -

We bought FLAH DANCE (Zamindar) as a yearling for €18 000 at the 2007 Arqana October sales.

SAPHIR BERE won the Prix du Mont Saint Jean at Deauville
Thursay, March 10th
SAPHIR BERE gave German trainer Carmen BOSCKAI and Swiss owner Anton KRAULINGER their first win in a Quinté + .
The son of NICOBAR trained in Avenches (Switzerland) and 6th in the Grand Prix de Saint Moritz in his last start won the big handicap of the day at Deauville.

We bought him privately two years ago for The Swiss Derby where he finished 3rd.

GAMEDE won the Naas Racecourse Maiden Hurdle at Naas
Tuesday, March 8th
Very impressive win for GAMEDE. For his first outing for Liz DOYLE, GAMEDE won in great style a good novice hurdle at Naas with 25 horses taking part in that race.
The son of ASTARABAD  that we purchase for 23 000£ at the Brightwells sales in December could now be aiming for the 4 yold Group 1 novice hurdle at the Punchestown festival.
